He seems to be calling it a day. He took down a lot of squash for such a little squirrel.

Captured some footage today while hiking of a deer clearing his horns. He uses a combo of bushes, a tree, and a lot of…well, chewing. :\ (by whatsabudget)

Test footage from #WhatsabudgetFilms new HD camcorder. Squirrels munchin’ in the park. Their too cute.
“It’s really quite silly,” I thought.
A writer moved to take a picture.
Looking into the face of progress
Seeing how cruel we can be.
The land being cleared,
The trees laying dead, unearthed,
On the cold disrupted land.
Sacrificed for the sacred
Concrete structures that bring
Convenience two miles closer.
Hallelujah!
And there stood the lone tree,
The saddest sight I have ever seen.
It stood so tall against a fresh
Sky so blue, choking out
The last branches still clinging to
The top of this lonely soul.
I was stirred to find film for
My camera and return to capture
His last stand, before modern
Convenience ripped him from his
Comfortable roots in the ground.
But still, while lingering
In my procrastination, he fell.
Progress…
And so I have to take the picture from my mind
Before the clouds come in and
Shake it from my memory,
But to create the emotions that this
Left and stirred within, is impossible.
Why it moved so deep
An emotion in me, I do not know.
But staring into the barren lot
I felt tears forming
Beneath the sights coming in
Until I looked away.
So high up from it’s brethren
All lying broken and shattered,
That solitary tenant,
Awaiting his inevitable execution
By these visitors carrying
Orders of convenience, I heard him cry.
Even before he fell he shouted
Out for all of those who had
Been taken already, and
I heard it. And it shook me.
“It’s really quite silly,” I thought…
Progress!

Hooray, science!
I just wish that this technology would be employed on a large scale for the millions of people on the planet who do not have access to clean drinking water! However, I fear it will end up behind an inflated price tag being packed into some privileged person’s camping gear so they can drink water from the stream while out on a trip!
